Court Carousel ("the app", "we") rotates a group of pickleball players across courts each round. It is a personal, non-commercial project run by an individual and hosted in Canada. This page explains what the app stores about you, why, and what you can do about it. If you have any question about it, write to [email protected].
What we collect
Organizer accounts
Only people who run games need an account. Players never do. For an account we store:
- Your name (whatever you type; a first name or nickname is fine) and email address.
- If you choose a password: a salted hash of it, never the password itself.
- If you sign in with Google or Microsoft: the account identifier they give us and the name and email they share. We ask for nothing else – we cannot read your mail, files or contacts, and we never post on your behalf.
Groups, rosters and games
- Group names, court names, and the names of players an organizer adds to a roster.
- Game history: which players were on which court with whom, who rested, and when each round started. There are no scores.
Player names are entered by organizers about other people. Organizers are responsible for having those people's permission, and should use no more than a first name or nickname where that is enough. Nothing about a player is stored beyond their name and the games they were placed in.
Technical data
- Your browser keeps a sign-in token and a few preferences (the name you highlighted, sound on/off, recent game codes) in its local storage. There are no tracking cookies, no analytics and no advertising.
- While a game is open, your browser sends a random device number so the game can show how many phones are connected, with the organizer's name or the player name you highlighted. This is kept in memory only and forgotten 15 minutes after you close the game.
- To limit abuse of the sign-in and email features we keep a count of recent attempts per internet address in memory for ten minutes. Our server does not keep per-request logs.
- The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes your internet address to serve the site and block attacks, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
How we use it
Only to run the service: showing games, sending the emails the app needs (confirming your address, resetting a password, admin invites), and keeping accounts secure. We do not sell, rent or share your information, and we send no marketing. The people who see your data are:
- Other people in your group. Anyone with a game's six-character code can see the names in that game and who is on which court. Treat a code like a shared link. Admins of a group can see its roster and history.
- Our email provider, which delivers the emails above.
- Google or Microsoft, if you choose to sign in with them, under their own policies.
How long we keep it
- Games are deleted automatically twelve months after they were created.
- Groups and rosters stay until an organizer deletes them.
- Deleting your account (My account → Delete my account) immediately removes the account and every group, roster and game you own. Groups you only helped run are unaffected.
- Email links (confirm, reset, invite) expire on their own, at most after fourteen days.
Your choices
- See and change your name and email, your sign-in methods and your password on My account.
- Delete your account yourself at any time, from the same page.
- If your name appears on a roster and you want it gone, ask the organizer of that group, or write to us and we will remove it.
- For anything else – a copy of your data, a correction, a complaint – write to [email protected]. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS, passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and sign-in sessions expire after ninety days without use. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you, we will tell you.
Age
You must be at least 13 to create an organizer account. We do not knowingly keep an account for anyone younger; if you believe we have one, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
This policy may change at any time, without individual notice. When it does, the date at the top changes, and if the change matters organizers see a note the next time they sign in. The current version is always at this address, and by continuing to use the app after a change you accept the updated policy.
